~Empty~

When someone says your conscience is dead, do you take it as a compliment?
If you no longer feel hurt towards people who hurt you but all you can feel is anger is it a good thing?
If you find that manipulation is a new power that you have, do you use it extensively and relentlessly?
If you find that now you have the power to and are willing to hurt someone for reasons you can't comprehend yet you feel not a tinge of guilt, are you the devil himself?
If you no longer trust anyone except your family and yourself, is it a bad thing?
If someone chooses to make use of you and you know of it, will you pay them back in double or even more?
If you no longer recognise the person staring back at you in the mirror, have you lost yourself?

Maybe that explains why people who are unfeeling are so unaffected by anything and they are so successful in living their lives happily. For some people, maybe they are just numb and hollow inside. I suppose when you attach feelings to anything, you put a value or importance on things which probably don't even matter in the first place. We are sad and hurt when we suffer betrayals or someone has let us down. Actually it doesn't have to be this way. Just pay them back in their own coin and not treat people well is a better long-term strategy to protect yourself, isn't it? Isn't this survivior of the fittest? Hasn't it been the way that people with any conscience will not come to a good end just like people without one never suffers retribution? When something pushes you to join the other side, that's not necessarily a bad thing. If you can't be happy trying to be a good person, just stop trying. It's so much easier to let go of all ethics, morals and values than to consider all the consequences and feelings of other people who might be affected. It's too exhausting to suppress and continue trying to be someone you can never be, isn't it?
